Welcome to GHG's CBD FAQ's page! Below are answers to frequently asked CBD questions pertaining to safety, potential benefits, how CBD works with the Endocannabinoid System, CBD's legal status, and much more.

By: Sean Westmeier - Director of Growth at  GHG CBD. I'm not a Doctor and CBD has not universally been approved by the FDA. There seems to be a gray area if CBD is taken topically or by prescription (Epidiolex is currently the only approved Rx). Always consult a medical professional before taking anything natural.

How much CBD should I use?

This publication on PUBMED.gov supports the recommendation that CBD should be taken TWICE per Day. Start with a low dose, somewhere between 5-10mg, twice per day. CBD may cause sleepiness, take your first dose before bed.

Due to CBD's previous illegal status, there insufficient evidence for a standardized recommended daily allowance (RDA). Based on Customer Feedback and Clinical Study Reviews, dosage seems to depend on severity of symptoms, weight, genetics and how it's taken. Click for Suggested Dosage Charts.

While there are no established clinical guidelines, the medical experts consulted by the Arthritis Foundation recommend the following for adults:

When preparing to take a liquid form, be aware that the CBD extract is mixed with a carrier oil, so there are two measures to know: the amount of the liquid product to take (millimeters) and the amount of CBD in each dose (Milligrams). IT’S ALL ABOUT HOW MANY TOTAL Milligrams of CBD you are taking!

Go low and slow. Start with 5mg to 10mg of CBD in sublingual form twice a day. If relief is inadequate after one week, increase the dose by that same amount. If needed, go up in small increments over several weeks. If you find relief, continue taking that dose twice daily to maintain a stable level of CBD in the blood.

If CBD alone doesn’t work and you are in a state where medical or recreational marijuana is legal, talk to your doctor about taking CBD with a very low-dose THC product. Be aware that THC, even at low levels, may get you high, creating cognitive, motor and balance issues. Try THC-containing products at home or at night first, so you can sleep off any unwanted effects. After several weeks, if you don’t find relief with CBD alone or with a combination of CBD and very low THC, CBD may not be right for you.

If you experience any unwanted side effects when using a CBD product, immediately discontinue use and inform your doctor. Source: Arthritis Foundation CBD Guide

What Should I look for when Buying CBD Products?

  1. Buy from a Company that provides Certificate of Analysis (COA)

Make sure the COA is from an independent, 3rd Party, certified lab. For example, GHG uses www.proverdelabs.com

If the company doesn’t have COA posted for the cannabis product, move on to the next one.

   2. Choose between Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum or CBD Isolate

  • Full Spectrum Hemp Extract – Contains CBD, up to 0.3% THC, up to 100 other Cannabinoids and Terpenes. A potential Issue with Full Spectrum is the possibility of failing a drug test.

  • CBD Isolate (Pure CBD) - Typically available with 99.6% purity. Contains no other cannabinoids or Terpenes. Looks like a white, grainy powder. Issue with Isolate is it lacks any other potentially beneficial cannabinoids and Terpenes – Cannabinoid Boosters/Enhancers.

   3. Evaluate the Product’s Cost per Milligram of CBD

  • Find the Product’s Total milligrams of CBD

  • Find the Product’s Total Cost

  • Divide the Total Cost by the Total Milligrams of CBD

  • Compare the Cost per mg of CBD

  • Keep in mind, Products made with Isolate are less expensive because they lack other potentially beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes.

Is CBD ok to take with other Pharmaceutical Drugs?

Research evaluating the safety of CBD is underway. At this point very little is known. So far, CBD appears to be harmless when takin on its own. The World Health Organization CBD Reports no adverse effects to date from CBD use. CBD is thought to have the potential to interact with some drugs. Talk to your doctor before trying CBD if you take any of the following: corticosteroids (such as prednisone), tofacitinib (Xeljanz), naproxen (Aleve), celecoxib (Celebrex), tramadol (Ultram), certain antidepressants, including amitriptyline (Elavil), citalopram (Celexa), fluoxetine (Prozac), mirtazapine (Remeron), paroxetine (Paxil), sertraline (Zoloft), and certain medications for fibromyalgia, including gabapentin (Neurontin) and pregabalin (Lyrica). Any Known Side Effects of taking CBD?

To this point, there appear to be some potential mild risks with taking CBD. Customers have noted, prior to figuring out their proper dose, being slightly sleepy and having an upset stomach. Remember, consult your doctor for their opinion. An article published on Pubmed.gov mentioned Diarrhea, nausea, headache, and somnolence (sleepiness) as the most common adverse events (side-effect) across all trials reviewed in subjects taking CBD compared with placebo.

Will I Pass a Drug Test?

You should pass as long as you're taking a CBD product with Non-Detectable levels of THC. Drug tests look for THC, but not CBD. Make sure the CBD product you're using has certified lab analysis indicating 0% THC. Looking for more info? Check Quest Diagnostics or US Drug Test Centers.

  • CBD Isolate (Pure CBD) is Cannabidiol in its purest state. It appears grainy, white and powder-like. Should be tested and labeled as minimum 99.6% purity. Contains no other cannabinoids or terpene. What are Terpenes Check this Leafly article.

According to the World Health Organization's CBD Report, to date, there is no evidence of health issues related to CBD. Some Clinical studies have administered up to 1500mg CBD per day without adverse effects. So far, CBD has repeatedly shown to be well tolerated in Humans. As with anything, consult your physician if you're uncertain about CBD dosages.

What is the Best way to take CBD?

Best Method Based on available research is topical or tincture oil. Our Digestive system is believed to breakdown CBD and reduce its effectiveness. So, capsules and food may not be the ideal method. But, we're all different. Another method may work for you!

What Does the FDA say about CBD?

The FDA is still determining their stance on CBD. CBD cannot be marketed or sold as a food or dietary supplement. Currently the FDA has not established a CBD Recommended Daily Allowance and does not permit claiming CBD can cure or treat anything. However, GHG's CBD Products are intended to be used for Cosmetic Purposes Only - which appears to be acceptable. Rub, Pour, Sprinkle and Introduce GHG CBD for Attractive Homeostasis. Check out "What You Need to Know (And What We’re Working to Find Out) About Products Containing Cannabis or Cannabis-derived Compounds, Including CBD" from FDA.gov or the FDA's CBD Questions and Answers Page.
